Sample SOAP Compliant Fault Message

I had spent a great deal of time looking for a valid SOAP fault response that would pass Microsoft's validation process. Even there own fault messages wouldn't pass their own validation. Very irritating to say the least. Well my cohort here at EggHeadCafe.com, Peter, fiddled around with different options and finally found a fault message that would pass Microsoft's validation scheme.

Very irritating to say the least. Well my cohort here at EggHeadCafe.com, Peter, fiddled around with different options and finally found a fault message that would pass Microsoft's validation scheme. It also follows w3.org standards for SOAP compliance. Feel free to run it through our SOAP validation form at http://www.eggheadcafe.com/soapvalidatorform.asp .

Here's the sample:

<SOAP-ENV:Envelope
xmlns:SOAP-ENV='http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/'
SOAP-ENV:encodingStyle='http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/'
xmlns:v='http://www.eggheadcafe.com/webservices/'>;
<SOAP-ENV:Body>
<SOAP-ENV:Fault>
<faultcode>SOAP-ENV:Client.AppError</faultcode>
<faultstring>Application Error</faultstring>
<detail>
<message>You dummy!</message>
<errorcode>1006</errorcode>
</detail>
</SOAP-ENV:Fault>
</SOAP-ENV:Body>
</SOAP-ENV:Envelope>
