You can shrink a disk partition in Windows 7 without using any additional softwares

Follow these 4 steps to shrink a disk partition.

1. Type "compmgmt.msc" in your run menu. It would open the Computer Management Console.
2. Click on the "Disk management" option under Storage.
3. Select the Partition under the appropriate disk that you want to shrink.
4. Right-click on the partition and choose "Shrink Volume" from the options.

It would then  show you the available space on the partition that can be shrunk. Choose a slightly lesser amount of space to be shrunk.
Follow the onscreen instructions that would shrink the selected partition by the specified size and create a new partition of the available space.
