Windows XP - IDT High Definition Audio CODEC

Ever since i reformated my computer i can not get the sound to work in device manager is says that IDT High Definition Audio CODEC can not run?? help?

    Goto Device Manager..
    Right Click Sound,video and game controller
    Update driver.
    Restart the computer..
   It should work..
   This is because your sound driver is not installed

   Also try to install audio driver with the motherboard cd..

Have you updated the latest driver for your audio device (can be the soundcard on your computer) and installed it?
After that, have you updated the latest Windows XP Service Pack? At least Service Pack 2, Service Pack 3 is recommended.
Fortunately, Windows XP Service Pack 2 contains Windows Media Player 9, which has quite enough codec to support your favorite movies, since many WMV or AVI has many different codecs.
And then, you can download the Windows Media Player 11 that has more codecs than Windows Media 9 and 10, and it also supports HD format of 720p and 1080p.

I'm not too sure if this will work for you but I'm running XP on a Dimension 3100 and had same problem. I went to dell driver site and d/l the stac 9xx c-major hd audio codec and it works fine.

If the link won't work you may have to copy and paste.
