ASP.NET - html missing plug in - Asked By shekhar kumar on 02-Apr-09 03:13 AM

I have writtern code for displaying .rm file in html. I am using asp.net. The code is as follows
<OBJECT ID="RVOCX" CLASSID="clsid:CFCDAA03-8BE4-11CF-B84B-0020AFBBCCFA" WIDTH=320 HEIGHT=240>
                <param name="SRC" value="<%=filename%>">
                <param name="CONSOLE" value="MOVIE1">
                <param name="CONTROLS" value="ImageWindow">
                <param name="CENTER" value="TRUE">
                <param name="AUTOSTART" value="TRUE">
                <param name="CONTROLS" value="PlayButton">
            </OBJECT>
            <BR>
            <OBJECT ID="RVOCX1" CLASSID="clsid:CFCDAA03-8BE4-11CF-B84B-0020AFBBCCFA" WIDTH=320 HEIGHT=32>
                <param name="CONSOLE" value="MOVIE1">
                <param name="CONTROLS" value="ControlPanel">
            </OBJECT>
            <OBJECT ID="RVOCX2" CLASSID="clsid:CFCDAA03-8BE4-11CF-B84B-0020AFBBCCFA">
                <EMBED  SRC="<%=filename%>" TYPE="AUDIO/X-PN-REALAUDIO-PLUGIN" CONTROLS="ImageWindow" WIDTH=320 HEIGHT=240 NOJAVA="TRUE" CONSOLE="MOVIE1" AUTOSTART="TRUE">
                </EMBED>
                <BR>
                <EMBED  SRC="<%=filename%>"  TYPE="AUDIO/X-PN-REALAUDIO-PLUGIN" CONTROLS="ControlPanel" WIDTH=320 HEIGHT=32 NOJAVA="TRUE" CONSOLE="MOVIE1">
                </EMBED>
                <EMBED SRC="<%=filename%>" WIDTH=36 HEIGHT=26 NOJAVA=true CONTROLS=PlayButton CONSOLE=one />
            </OBJECT>

the file name is comming from the serverside code. Now it is working fine on computer which has real players.
But on computer which has no real plyer installed it shows UNKNOWN MISSING PLUG IN.
Now how can i change unknown missing player to real media plyer

Thanks in advance.

u need to specify the media player

put this

<EMBED TYPE="application/x-mplayer2"
PLUGINSPAGE="http://microsoft.com/windows/mediaplayer/en/download/"
ID=MediaPlayer >

instead of

EMBED  SRC="<%=filename%>"  TYPE="AUDIO/X-PN-REALAUDIO-PLUGIN" CONTROLS="ControlPanel" WIDTH=320 HEIGHT=32 NOJAVA="TRUE" CONSOLE="MOVIE1">

but what if i want to use real player .rm file - shekhar kumar replied to Web Star on 02-Apr-09 03:42 AM

Thanks a lot.
But my problem is this that my file has different versions menas according to badwidth.
And the file extension is .rm. which is not supported by window media player.
Do you have any suggestions.

Thanks.

detect Real Player plugin - mv ark replied to shekhar kumar on 02-Apr-09 03:57 AM

You can detect whether a user has the Real Player plugin installed using Javascript's navigator object. You can find a sample script here -
http://www.javascriptkit.com/script/script2/plugindetect.shtml

After you detect, you can display a message asking the user to install the Real Player plugin.
