Other Issues - Media Player / redir.metaservices.microsoft.com - unable to retrieve album information

I am running Windows XP Media Center Edition Version 2002 with Service Pack 3 and windows Media Player version 11.0.5721.5268. My media player used to automatically give album information when a new disc was inserted (still worked last week) now it don't work in auto or manual mode, is this due to my library capacity having been exceded (about 2000 CD's saved)? I have tried it with the firewall turned off, made sure work off line wasn't checked and nothing has helped.

Try these in the same order: - [)ia6l0 iii replied to Randy Swanson on 16-Jan-10 12:04 AM

  • Do you have a proxy set up? If yes, then try after removing the proxy.
  • Right-Click on the particular album and select the "Find Album Info" option. Pardon me, if you have already tried this step.
  • Are the files Readonly. Can you uncheck the option that makes them readonly and try the "Find Album Info" option again. There are cases, when the Windows Media Player refused to update the album info when the files are readonly.
  • Clear the Temporary Internet files. You can do this by opening Internet Explorer and choosing one of the options from the Tools/Edit menu. The option varies in different versions of Internet Explorer.
  • Your library could also be corrupt. Reset your library. For the version 11 of the player, I guess the library settings are stored in "%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Media Player" folder.
Hope one of them resolves the issue.
