Windows XP - Favorites Bar removal - Asked By Buzzy on 28-Sep-10 01:56 AM

XP Pro   IE8   How can I permanently Remove the FAVORITES BAR ( the 4th line down from the top of my screen).  It has the Gold Star, the word Favorites . . .  and nothing else.  I DO NOT use it and it just takes up screen space.

Are you referring to the favorites toolbar or the menu? If the toolbar, just right click it and uncheck the toolbar. If the menu, you might be able to customize and remove it that way.

To  RIGHT CLICK the Star, the Word or the open bar . . . it is already unchecked on the drop down menu.  I do NOT want to delete it from the    MENU BAR. . .(File, Edit, View, Favorites, Tools, etc)

Can you upload a screen shot to show what you are talking about?

Okay, so you are referring to the orange star with Favorites next to it? I do not believe you can remove this, as it represents your access to your favorites links. You probably just want to use the menu to access your links and that's why you want to remove it? You can always go into full screen mode (by pressing F11) to hide the menu/toolbar area.
