Hi,

ASPX :-Active Server Pages Extended

Adi

Explanatory is as such ASPX does not have a proper expansion as a word or phrase

the pages created using asp.net has ASP server side code and XHTML code , so they are name ASPX(ASP from ASP.Net and X from XHTML)

ASCX :- User Control, used for User Control files logic

Hi,

.aspx - Active Server Page Extension
.asax - Active Server Application Extension

.asax is the global file
at the application level so all the application level, session level events, errors can be handled by using this file.

There are the events like Application_Start, Session_Start which can be used to make the application level or session level data available.

Like if there is a requirements to show the hit count of the website, then we can use the Application_Start event and keep track of the count for the hits for the website. Also we can make use of the Session_Start event when there is somethign related to the session of the user..like based on the roles, we want to show somethign to the users.

Hope this will help you

The .ascx files are used to create or define custom controls to be placed onto web pages.

ASPX is a page and ASCX is a usercontrol. A page can contain usercontrols.

Let's say you have a control that you want to appear on every page. A login with username and password fields and button is a good example. With a user control you could create one single login control and then drop it onto every page of your website instead of having to recreate it on every page.

If you create some controls in .ascx file and call it from .aspx file, you can have all the controls created in .ascx file in your page, with that single call.
