Is it possible to host a silverlight 4 application with iis 5.1 because im using windows xp and want to host my silverlight 4 application on the internet.  If so, how?

IIS isn't relevant - Robbe Morris replied to shan on 21-Oct-11 02:16 PM

Your .xap file is just like a .swf file.  You set your Html OBJECT tag to reference your silverlight .xap file.  You might need to add the .xap file as a MIME type in IIS but that would be it.

On IIS 5.1 (XP)

  1. Run the IIS management console (found under Administrator tools)
  2. Select the default web site node and right mouse click. Select Properties
  3. On the HTTP Headers tab, press the File Types button and add the following entries in the table below
Extension Mime Type
.xap application/x-silverlight-app
.xaml application/xaml+xml
.xbap application/x-ms-xbap

IIS5.1 is not for a production website. Use a server OS not a desktop OS for a web server.
