Yes it is possible to take the backup of only schema.. when you are backing up your data from sql server management studio at that time during creating the script you have a option for exporting data or not... by default it is false so by default when you are backing up the database it backup only schema

So, default option is for schema backup only

Hi,
Thanks......But i am not under standing......
Through GUI there is no option only schema or username like that.......
If you got tasks-->Backup-->in that Option tab-->what is check media set name and backset expiration and backup to new media set name, and erase all existing backup sets.

what is the meaning of new media set like .....please give a clue and easily manner.

In oracle while taking export and import there is options like user back up all those things.......
for Example:

expdp dumpfile=aaaa.dbf logfile=bbbb.log schemas=<schemaname>(if you want tables only then table=<(schemaname or username).(tablename) ........
Same like as import also
impdp dumpfile=aaaa.dbf logfile=bbbb.log schemas=<schemaname>(if you want tables only then table=<(schemaname or username).(tablename) ........

===================
same way is there any option in SQL server for Backups and imports like as oracle........

Please give the full details......

Go in to the

Task -> Generate Script -> Chosse your database -> One next menu some propery coming there under table/view  option  you will find one option called Script data make that one false so it will not take data of the table it just take the schema of table... choose any other option if you required go on next and finish that window.

at that time you will get .sql file on your hard drive or new query window the option you are choosing .
This is the step to just get the schema... hope it clear now

I know this process....it is useful for go for down versions........its not sure to come corect data format all those things........

Its not came like as dump .bak file......it gives query format.......
I dont want like that....i want only particular user backups......or table backups..........

In this scenario ..is there any option in sql server (not generate scripts)

Please help me.........

Thanks advance........

As per my best knowldge during creating a Backup (.bak) file I dont think such a this type of option available.. because if you see some option given there there is a transcational backup option also so say in 1 day 50 record get changed then you can take a backup of only those data only...

so from my knowldge point of view during creating backup file there is no option for copying just schema. if you want to copy only schema then I think generate script is only option
