Lounge - My hotmail account states it is blocked, what can I do to resolve this

Asked By Delise Kerehona on 27-Feb-12 01:29 AM
Hi all,

My email states it is 'blocked' and states that a code will be sent to another of my previous email addresses however, I no longer work there and can not access that address. Also, the mobile phone that I had linked to my account has changed (many years ago) and I cannot receive messages on it - can't even remember the number (even if this was an option).

Has anyone got any suggestions or is this a scam?

Extremely frustrated...

  1. Login to the secure Hotmail login page at https://login.live.com/
  2. Login from another computer to http://account.live.com/
  3. If you can not login from either other computer go here http://www.emailquestions.com/hotmail/330-recover-lost-hotmail-password-regain-control-hacked-account.html
  4. If you can login from the second computer try the following steps on the first computer :
  5. http://www.emailquestions.com/general/290-delete-your-web-browser-cache.html
  6. Make sure cookies are enabled and clear your cookies http://www.emailquestions.com/general/346-delete-your-cookies.html
  7. Update your Adobe Flash player http://www.macromedia.com/software/flash/about/.
  8. Force a page refresh. After logging in and landing on the blank page, hold down the control key on your keyboard and while holding it down press the F5 key on your keyboard.
  9. Internet Explorer Users: Restore the default web browser security levels.
  10. If you use Internet Explorer try using Mozilla Firefox instead. Download and install the latest Firefox  http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/products/firefox/ and then use Firefox to go to Hotmail.com
  11. Check your Anti-Virus software and make sure it is up to date. If you do not have an anti-virus program I recommend installing Avast personal edition http://www.avast.com/.
  12. Update and run your anti-spyware program. If you do not have a program that checks your computer for spyware I recommend installing, updating, and running a full scan of your computer with http://www.emailquestions.com/out.php?q=stopzilla or Spybot S&D http://www.spybot.com/en/download/index.html.
  13. Do you have other security/firewall software installed such as Zone Alarm http://www.zonealarm.com/security/en-us/home.htm or Defender Pro http://www.emailquestions.com/out.php?q=defenderpro. Try downloading and installing the latest version. If you have already have the current version try reinstalling it.
  14. Reset your web browser privacy and security settings to the defaults.
  15. If you use Internet Explorer, http://www.microsoft.com/windows/internet-explorer/download-ie.aspx. After upgrading / reinstalling Internet Explorer, try going to Hotmail.com and see if you can login.
  16. Instead of using your ISP's DNS servers use the OpenDNS servers http://www.emailquestions.com/isp-free-email-support-forums/382-yahoo-hotmail-dns-errors.html.
  17. Instead of using the webmail interface try reading your Hotmail with
  18. Sometimes Hotmail is the problem, try waiting an hour and try to login again by going to Hotmail.com.
  19. You probably tried already, but if not, try rebooting your computer.
