This explains about the SSIS in SQL Server.
To begin with SSIS stands for SQL Server Integration Services, a new platform for DTS (Data
Transformation Services).
In Real World scenario we might have to work on huge volumes of data which
comes at different times from Source System where data quality matters and this
Data needs to be tracked and certified. The challenge is to store this data coming
in different formats into a single and consistent Dataset. Before SQL Server
2005, we used DTS which has some drawbacks which SSIS overcome these drawbacks.
SSIS is used to copy data from one server to another or we can say one system to
another and apply transformation as per our business rule.
Note: SSIS is available only in "Standard" and "Enterprise" editions
of SQL Server.
