Microsoft Excel - Runtime error 3020 update or cancel update without addnew or edit in Access

Asked By Marcos Mann on 25-Mar-09 08:15 PM

I need some help with this as I am not an Access person. I got handed this task due to the abrupt departure of a co-worker.

We have a registration database for a conference that is giving me an error "Runtime error 3020 update or cancel update without addnew or edit".  This happens when a record is updated and the save button is not clicked. If I try to go to another record it gets the error and I am forced to close the database and then go back in and update that record again and make sure SAVE button gets pushed.

Again I am not familiar with how Access works and I have just 2 weeks to make sure it works..  So your help and patience will be much appreciated.

Thanks

Marcos

Runtime error 3020 update or cancel update without addnew or edit in Access

OK, i did a search in the code and I am not seeing any coding as mentioned. I did check that other article and I only found update once in the coding, see below..  I didn't see any .addnew or .edit either.

Private Sub Combo52_AfterUpdate()
    ' Find the record that matches the control.
    Dim rs As Object

    Set rs = Me.Recordset.Clone
    rs.FindFirst "[AttendeeID] = " & Str(Nz(Me![Combo52], 0))
    If Not rs.EOF Then Me.Bookmark = rs.Bookmark
End Sub

Not sure this will help or maybe I am looking in the wrong place.   I just need for the thing to save on changing to a new record without clicking the save button.

Here is the code for the SAVE part

Private Sub Save_Record_Click()
On Error GoTo Err_Save_Record_Click

    DoCmd.DoMenuItem acFormBar, acRecordsMenu, acSaveRecord, , acMenuVer70

Exit_Save_Record_Click:
    Exit Sub

Err_Save_Record_Click:
    MsgBox Err.Description
    Resume Exit_Save_Record_Click
