Other Issues - Internet Explorer 8 Loses Cookies/Logins/Password Info
Asked By Mike Unt on 03-May-09 01:27 PM
I had NO problems with cookies, login, passwords, etc., with IE7 until I installed IE8. I have Google Chrome installed and CCleaner.
I have "unchecked" the CCleaner "Index file", and it is NOT the problem.
A moment ago I rebooted my computer and again when I ran IE8 I am promted for login and passwords on my usual sites...
Interesting note! When I just ran Chrome (IE8 is still open) my cookies/logins/passwords are okay there!
There is absolutely NO doubt that the issue is soley with IE8. I have been unable to find anything constructive about this issue even though many people are having the same problem.

Some settings might have been changed after installation or so, do a quick thing
Go to Tools > internet options > Advanced and finally click on the reset button
If the problem still exists, check whether you are deleting everything (like cookies) on closing the browser.....

Thanks san 222. I'll give it a try..... I didn't want to have to do that, but I might as well because I just switched back to using Chrome because of that problem. I was using Chrome for most of my browsing but for some reason it was slow loading my MyYahoo! home page....
I would have continued using Chrome ecxept for a couple of minor issues for me. One is that I use a program called Exif Reader to view the exif-data in posted photographs and it doesn't work in Chrome. Also, I find some IE integrations with Outlook email, etc., to be handy.
CCleaner has a number of settings, including the abililty - Peter Bromberg replied to Mike Unt on 03-May-09 06:23 PM
to specify cookies "not" to be removed. Suggest you carefully review your CCleaner settings.

Firefox is faster than any browser, and IE becomes faster if we remove unwanted toolbars and other stuff...
Firefox vs Chrome - Mike Unt replied to Santhosh N on 03-May-09 10:41 PM
I may end up trying/using Firefox.... I've grown used to Chrome....like it's search integration and fast pages....but it still has some drawbacks that hopefully will be addressed as it matures.

It might take a release or two to settle all the dust before getting everything to work according to the standards a product of google do have...:)

Same Problem - Stephen Silberman replied to Santhosh N on 15-Sep-09 07:13 PM
I'm having the same problem with losing cookies. I have had no such problem with Chrome or Firefox or Explorer 7. This is definitely a problem with 8 and I can't see anything I'm doing wrong! I hope someone finds a fix for this!
