SQL Server - Numerous 2908 and one 1935 Error Installing SQL Server Compact

If anyone can help me diagnose why my attempts to install SQL Server Compact 3.5 are failing with numerous 2908 errors and a final 1935 error, I would be most appreciative. It appears my machine is having a problem with some possibly corrupted .dlls. If anyone can point me in the right direction to fix this, I would sure appreciate it. The last thing I want to have to do is restore my computer to get a vital piece of software to run.
