Xml/Xslt - website display

Hi
I am new to website design and i have learnt html and css and moving onto php and javascript. I have created the homepage and it displays fine for me. But some others that view it say layers display down one side and some are missing completely. We are all using IE8 so it cant be the browser

few of them would have not turned the "Compatibility mode" for the website.  And also note, few of them can still have the beta version running.
