SharePoint - Error 401

Hi
Getting the following error.
please help.

[WebException: The request failed with HTTP status 401: Unauthorized.] Microsoft.Office.Project.PWA.PJContext.AuthenticateUserForPWA(Boolean validateUser, String username, Boolean checkTimebomb) +4152

If you are passing wrong Credentials with your web rquest, then its gives error 401

WSS 3.0 is installed on the server. Project Web Access is also installed.
Everything was fine until somebody tried to install some software on the same server.
I think what happened there is that some settings changed.
Now when i try to access http://server/pwa i get this error.

please can you help.
