Deployment - Is SSL certificate particular to a server or it can be transfered

I have a  ssl certificate  for my hosting company server, Now due to some reasons I have to change my hosting company..is it possible to use this ssl certificate  at my new hositng company's server or I will have to buy new one ?
Thanks

I think that depends, is your hosting company also your certification authority? If yes you have to ask them whether they allow that. Otherwise if you bought your certificate from VeriSign etc. i don't see why you cannnot.
