Microsoft Excel - Exporting from MRI to Excel 2007 - Compatibilty Issue

Asked By Larry on 16-Sep-10 02:05 PM

Hello all.

I'm one of the IT techs at a support company.  One of our clients uses an internet based management system that sends an export as an Excel spreadsheet.  Initiating the export gives no options to save the file, only to open Excel and populate the cells.  This is using Excel 2007 (not certain what operating system but most likely XP) and the error returned is a Type 13 mismatch error.  The management company, MRI Software, has documented the issue and informs us that the fix is to open Excel and choose Excel Workbook (*.xlsx) in the option box for "Save files in this format" in Excel Options.  This had no effect on the issue.  I researched the issue further and saved a blank .xlsx document to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\XLSTART.  This did force Excel to open in non-compatibility mode but the export from MRI still causes a Type 13 mismatch error.  MRI offers no further help stating it is a problem on the user's end but it seems to me if Excel is set in non-compatibility mode then it's the export that is forcing it to open in compatibility mode, most likely as the software exports an .xls file and has not been updated for whatever reason.

Any suggestions?  I hope to become a member in good standing on these forums.  Thank you.

What version of MRI are you running?  I just upgraded to MRI version 4.1.0 from 2.1 and started having this issue.  We have recently upgraded to Office 2007 too but didn't have this issue with version 2.1.

The error we get when hitting the excel button is:

Run-time error '91':

Object variable or With block variable not set

One of my accountants came up with this...seems to work fine

Click Excel options:

Click on Trust Center & then Trust Settings

In Macro Settings check the Trust Access to VBA project object Model

Click on the add-ins tab and check the Require application Add-ins to be signed by trusted Publisher

Then you should be able to run a report from mri and transfer it to excel.
