Other Issues - I've reset my Hotmail password why is my account STILL BLOCKED????????

I'm VERY frustrated!! I received a message that MS blocked my wife's account,(bebechabot@hotmail.com). I was instructed to enter a mobile phone# to receive a validation code. I entered one number....NO TEXT MESSAGE. I entered a second# STILL NO TEXT MESSAGE. We then followed the instructions entered her entire life history and was able to successfully change her password. I know it succeeded because when I try to log in with her old password I'm told it's invalid. BUT....when I try to log in with her new password I get the same BS....your account has been blocked you must reset your password to log in......VERY FRUSTRATING!!

PLEASE HELP!!!

I can't imagine hotmail requesting you enter mobile phone information.

I've had the same problem, and I also can't figure out what to do. This is incredibly irritating. I'm continuing to look on the Web to try to find solutions. I'll elt you know what I find; hopefully you do the same for me.

Thanks Sam, will do.......I've also, of course, posted in MS forums but I'm not pinning a lot of hope on Microsquish. I've seen quite a few users that have been stuck in this mess for days without any help from them. I've had an account hacked before but it seems like there's something else wrong here.

You have to enter mobile number which you have linked with your hotmail mail account.

This is the procedure of Password Recovery.

Thanks "Mr. Kahn" but apparently you did not actually read my entire initial post. I DID give them the phone# associated with the account but got NO text mssg. More to the point, I DID recover AND reset my password through my alternate e-mail address but the account was STILL BLOCKED. This is NOT a simple issue of password recovery. In any case, I contacted Hotmail Customer Support directly by phone: 1.800.386.5550 and was able to get THEM to unblock my account.

Last night I also found that Customer Service number (and there is another one 866 672 4551). When I called, I was told that the service was only for Premium (not free) Email accounts, and that the representative could not access my account. After some pleading, the guy walked me through the confusing Windows Live Customer Support pages to get me to an online form that I filled out. On the form I was able to give an alternate Email address, and in theory Hotmail people will check out my problem and unblock my account.

My questions for you: Did you have the same experience with the Customer Support people? If not, did the Customer Support person unblock your account directly over the phone (and how did you convince him to do this???)) And how long did it take to unblock your account?

Well the thing of it was that, in theory, I had already accomplished the necessary steps to restore my account. What I was told was that it would just take some time for the system to catch up. So, no, they did not unblock me directly. But this morning all was again happy chocolates.

I understand your reluctance to use the cell option. That certainly was my initial thought when my wife first told me about it. I thought for sure it HAD to be a phishing scam. But no, MS A) confirmed that it was legit and B) explained that it did not work for me because you have to enter a cell# that has already been LINKED to the affected account....something I hadn't done.....but I have now!

I too have chocolates! Indeed, the cell phone text message is legit. I input the number and immediately recieved the verification code. It was a snap and now I have my Hotmail account back. All's well that ends well, but, seriously, what is up with Microsoft? They are having a raft of security problems (judging both by the number spam messages I get from my contact list, and the number of "I hate Hotmail" forums I saw during my adventure), and their service is very opaque (it's also really problematic that everyone who has this blocked Email problem thinks that the cell phone verification code is a pfishing scam)... Conclusion: I'm closing my Hotmail account down and migrating elsewhere.

I want my account unblocked, there is nothing wrong with my account, except for the fact that it is blocked everyother day!  I do not have a cell phone, and have tried all the other directions given to me!  If I have to change to a new server I will, it would be very unconvenient, and I will tell everyone I know how much trouble I had with hotmail and MSN!  UNBLOCK MY ACCOUNT NOW!!!!!!!!!

I have the same problem here, I didn't receive any text message. Is sending the code through text message the only way? I don't think it works actually.

Hello Sam I see you had the same problem as I do. I had tried what I was told to do by the Techsupport , it has be over a month now and I still can not get into my hotmail account. I had the same account for years and had to change my password because of some problems and I can not remember everything  that was even set up on it. I was asked about secrate answer and we used a pet name but to fill out the fourm it wants a childhood friend. Also I have called every number possible and now one can help. I have pins numbers and made a new account so the could send me a reset and I have not gotten anywhere. I have all my things that I need to get to and can not. Would you kindly send me an E-mail or a reply on what I might beable to try. Thanks!

same thing here. Still to this day my account is blocked. I have a lot of important emails from people on there. Can't access it anymore. If i get through i'll tell ya how.

I am also strugling with Account Unblock issue since a month. Similar issue for neither receiving verification code on mobile phone nor getting reply from customer support.
I can see in the forurm that almost 90% of the candidates are facing same issue. Can we write this to hotmail support, management team to highlight our concern.

PROBLEM SOLVED!!! 

The same issue happened to me and I never recieved the verification text.  What I discovered is that the verification code can only be texted to one of three cell phone carriers.  At&t, Verizon, and Sprint.  I called my buddy who uses Verizon and he forwarded me the text.  Within five minutes I was back in buisiness.

So I finally deciced I have nothing to loose and used the cell phone text message to unlock my account.

I received a text message in about 5 seconds.  Input the code. And I'm back in my hotmail 3 minutes later.

I live in Western Canada so the mobile phone thing worked.  I dont know about outside North america.

It seems to be legit.

why block my account?

Yes, my first account was blocked and I cannot figure out how to get it back.
I have it set up to where I did link the phone, but spaced and clicked do not recieve texts.
I never got to changing my number to the new one and I have an account with steam that I want to keep active but if I want to switch it over to another, I need the old account back to get the code.
I was wondering if there was anyway I coulg get intouch with someone to get the account back. I set a new password after finding out it was hacked, but the account was still blocked.

Yes, when I logged in, I saw all 319 emails that failed to deliver. The next day, my account was blocked.

Again, is there anyway I can recover and reactivate this older account of mine?
I will give the account name if needed.
