SQL Server - error during install - error writing to file microsoft.analysisservice

Asked By nikola n on 11-Feb-11 10:17 AM
I'm trying to install sql server 2008 on windows 7 64bit. When I try run as administrator the setup appl from the local folder, where I extracted the installation files I pass all the checks but in the end I receive:
"The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with this pacage. The error code is 2337"
When I try install it via virtual emulator, again as administrator i receive:
"error writing to file microsoft.analysisservices.adomdclient.dll"

Please help, how to avoid these problems?

SQl Server SP1 is only supported on Windows 7.  That could be the issue.

From:

Solution, change the registry entry for the SP key from 0 to 1 (one) and then run the installer. Voila, installs with no problem.  Now I just need to reapply SP1 (well, after actually walking through the less-than-intuitive installer to apply the management studio) and I’m good to go.

Hope this saves someone else some time.

I don't think this is the problem, 1st the reg key SP was 1, 2nd Sql Server SP1 was installed. I reinstalled it, and run the installation again, but the result was still the same
using the emulator - error writing to file microsoft.analysisservices.adomdclient.dll
using the extracted from the ISO - error code is 2337

I looked up error code 2337 and some people had some issues w/ virtual PC

It seems people have this issue using ISO's

Do you have another version of SQL server you can get from somewhere else and try again?

I have also seen a bunch of links where people had it work by redownloading the image.  It seems also on a few programs "Backup exec" about a week ago i had issues with downloading these huge .iso's and getting them to work w/o re downloading them
