SharePoint - How to change default Column Sort from Ascending to Decending?

Asked By s s on 21-Mar-11 11:55 AM
Currently, the Sharepoint list i created has "Ascending" order (1,2,3...).  How do i make the default "Descending" instead?

Thank you

P.S. No code please.  I'm not a programmer.

Hi ss

You will need go to the setting of the list library and then choose create view (or modify the existing view) and there will be a section that says "sort" in here you will define how-to sort choose descending and which column to sort by and click OK..

You will need to have contribute or full control access to the list library to do this.

Hope this helps.

That is not so hard to set sorts based on your preference in SharePoint. As you describe, you prefer descending as default rather than ascending, could you please make it more clear which column will be set as the first sort column?

Please go back to the default view, and edit the default view. For the sort section, choose what you desire as first sort by the column in the drop down boxes. And then tick the box as Show items in descending order.

In that case, that will solve the problem.
