Windows 7 - DComcnfg My Computer Properties are missing in Popup Menu

Asked By Klaus Mueller on 02-Oct-11 02:00 PM
Since some days suddenly I don't have anymore in dcomcnfg for My Computers in the Popup Menu the Properties. The icon of My Computers shows a red arrow, which wasn't there before. Also I cannot access anymore the COM+ because I don't have the access permission.
I'm the administartor of my PC. My machine is only member of a workgroup and not member of a domain. I tried also to start dcomcnfg as an Administrator, but the same problems. Because I cannot change so the dcom settings my server client connection cannot work.

Problem solved !  The problem is due to file corruption of DCOM.  Solution is to restore the COM+ Applications catalog.

See for details:

Restore COM+ Applications catalog

1 Download the COM fix tool.

2 On the root directory of C drive (C:\), create a new folder, and rename it as COMFIX.

Extract the COM_Fix.zip file that you downloaded to this new folder.

3 Browse to the following folder:

C:\COMFIX

4 Right-click the com_fix.bat file, and then click Run as administrator.

If you see a prompt, type your administrator password. If the User Account Control prompt appears, click Yes.

5 When the Restore Successful! message appears, click OK.

6 Exit all the programs, and restart the computer.

Hi Anoop,

thank you for your reply. COMFIX solved my problem and now I'm able again to configure my DCOM settings.
