IIS - working with IIS 7 - Asked By gopal krish on 28-Nov-11 04:22 AM

hi..

i was placed sample html file in a folder in my remote server.
then i was created a new website using my iis 7(in remote server).

now i was selected the path of the folder and in my new web site in iis.

inside default website i was converted my application folder in to a application. and i also set new pooling for my web site.

now i type the url in my local system(client system) means "internet explorer cannot display the web page".

i was new to the iis 7.

so what i was missed. how to view the site once its hosted in to iis7.
need ur suggestions with examples

You can run your project by hosting in IIS

Step 1 : Build - > Publish Web Site

Step 2 : Publish it in the IIS server's folder : C:\inetpub\wwwroot

Step 3: Open IIS 

Step 4:  Expand the Root Node of the IIS in the left panel. In the Sites node you will get you published site

Step 5 : Right click on the your site and Choose Convert to Application:



Step 6: Now it will be converted to application  Now Right click on it and choose Browse :



Done!

Follow these steps-

 
  1. Open IIS Manager. For information about opening IIS Manager, see Open IIS Manager (IIS 7). For information about navigating to locations in the UI, see Navigation in IIS Manager (IIS 7).

  2. In the Connections pane, click Sites in the tree.

Here you will find your site now click on browse, to browse your site.

thanks for ur reply
i follow ur steps..
i was typed the site url in my remote server its working.
but the same url will not be accessible in users machine..
the same error msg is coming.

"Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage"



what i am missing here?

need ur suggestions with examples

if you are hosting your site on window 7.use IIS 7.5. Here is a good link for this
