Microsoft Word - MS Word 2007 Shape Fills will not print

Asked By Dave Cale on 15-Feb-12 08:35 AM
Cannot get my Dell Photo 926 printer to print Shape Fills and associated background color in Word 2007 on a Windows 7 32-bit machine.  I am using a template for file folder labels.  Have tried Avery and 3M label templates and none will print the shape fills.  Printer works fine on other color jobs and "will" print text that I enter into the file folder label templates.  Print Preview looks fine, but when printed, the shape fills do not print.  I have reinstalled Dell Photo 926 Drivers from the Dell website, and have enabled "Print Drawings Created in Word" and "Print Background Colors and Images".  Nothing seems to work.  Please help!  Thank you!

Looks like a corrupt printer driver.

But anyway, you can try these two options.

1. Open the word document that you want to print.
a) Go to Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Print tab.
b) Choose the checkbox that reads "Select the Print data only for forms check box" and then uncheck it, if it is already selected.
c) Save your changes.

2. Go to layout options and choose, "Print colors as black...". This, I believe would let you know if your drivers are faulty.

Try and let me know.

This did not fix the problem.  As I mentioned, one of the first things I tried was to uninstall and reinstalled the drivers for the Photo 926 printer.

Dave,

I am sure you have tried to print your templates on blank paper as well as the 3M labels and I am guessing you did not get the fill print there either.

I would look at the fill shape properties and not the word doc properties.

I have a dell printer as well and I have run several test trying to duplicate your error, I will continue to research and see what I can find. til then I hope this helps.

Dave,

If you go to Office Button | <application> Options, change the printing to
High Quality. That should take care of it.

Depending on what version of word you are running.

Changing to "Photo Quality" did not fix the problem.  I have even tried creating a separate text box on top of the shape and playing around with the ordering of the layers, but doesn't seem to matter what order things are in, the fill shape will not print......just the text.  Any further help appreciated.

hi,

Have you installed the latest drivers from the manufacturer’s site below?

http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?os=W732&catid=-1&dateid=-1&impid=-1&osl=EN&typeid=-1&formatid=-1&servicetag=&SystemID=PRN_ALL_A926&hidos=WLH&hidlang=en&TabIndex=

If not, please do download and install it.

Uninstall all traces of the driver first and then use add printer wizard and try installing the printer again.

When the wizard asks for the driver CD for printer, browse to the downloaded 64 bit drivers (which should be in extracted form) and then install it.

Don, I am able to print your two shapes.  I am attaching a file with 2 shapes in it.  I am curious to know why the blue shape "will" print, but the gold shape "will not" print.  Any ideas?

Dave,

I took your sheet and resaved it as a .doc I tried to print your .docx and my .doc
Neither one of them would print the gold.

I did add a new shape and put in a gold looking color and a yellow border, I was not able to fine the exact color you had and I made that print.

So the only reccomendation I have at this point it to change your color from that Gold to something close and try again.

Thanks Don!  My thinking is that the gold shape somehow got corrupted..............probably has to do with the Avery template somehow.  I have accomplished my task by using the "Avery Design and Print Online" application at the Avery website.  Thanks for your help!!  Dave
