Microsoft Word - Cannot overlay AutoShapes on Inserted Pictures, Office 2008 Mac

Since buying a new MacBook Pro 2 yaers ago with Office 2008 Mac factory installed, I have not been able to overlay an AutoShape on previously Inserted Pictures, e.g., a circle or an text box onto a jpeg photo (no issues with this in my previous Office 2004 Mac).  I went to Format, AutoShape (and Text box), then Advanced; the Allow Overlap box is checked.  Still not possible.  When I position an AutoShape over an Inserted Picture, part of the Picture is blanked out or shifted as I drag the AutoShape over the Picture.  How to resolve this (work around has been a tedious job of picture in PPT, add graphics and text, write to a PDF, then copy and paste into Word).  Jeff

I am not sure of the Mac Version. 

However, you should find an option called "Bring to Front" under "Drawing Tools" - Format tab - that should be of some use. 

No, I wish it were this easy.  It is not a case of the Picture being over an AutoShape.  Any AutoShape or Text box, etc., that is inserted into a Word document acts like a bulldozer, pushing aside typed text and offsetting (or masking) an inserted Picture.

Thanks Somesh, this is a work-around that I had not thought of, and it does work.  I just tried it.  However, it is several steps and it would be nice if I could get an AutoShapes insert to lie over a photograph or figure that was added in the simple Insert Picture option (as was possible in the Office 2004 version).  Since others have not suggested that I am missing a simple fix (like turning on the Overlay button), I suspect that Word needs to be reloaded.  Cheers, Jeff
