hi,

Try this steps for fonts:

  1. Right click on an empty spot on your Desktop and choose "Screen Resolution".
  2. Click "Make text and other items larger or smaller".
  3. In the new window you can directly have 3 presets to choose from to make the fonts bigger. If you prefer a different font size you can click on the "Set Custom text size (DPI)" on the left and type any percentage you like.

try this before you try anything more complicated
My simple fix :
1. open a new mail message.
2. press ctrl and mouse scroll until you find a size that best for you.
3. Close the message, and your preferred size will be saved.

I've never experienced this, but doing a little poking around I found this article: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/help/HA010547911033.aspx

Within it, it says "If you want all new documents that you create to have a specific font, a graphic such as a logo, or specific ruler and tab settings, you can modify the Normal template. "

This would hold true even if you just opened up Word and tried to amend a new document.

I would start there, and if the issue is the normal.dot, try renaming the original and copying and pasting a known good template from perhaps your computer (if they are same version).

You can find the default template by going to TOOLS -> Options -> File Locations ->user templates.

Good luck!

Mary Ann,

Im courious to know if the font starts out normal and is getting smaller with each keystroke or each return or how.
You stated you are not sure how it is happening and it is in a document.   by default I am going to assume you are in MS word.

so I will offer this.

The Shortcut key combonation for font size is ctrl+[ if you are trying to insert a { which is shift of [ and you fat finger it like I do all the time you mave get the ctrl+[ which does not insert text or otherwise tell you that you missed, it simply changes the font by -1

Second suggestion is are your word documents new or from a template.   if a template you mave have the font saize saved to the blank  like Heading, Body, ect.  which will change as you type.

Hope that helps Don
