explain properly Daniel. did you mean without holding the left button when you move the mouse text is getting selected ??? Please explain. if your problem is you cant select text then follow this
hold the left mouse button and then move the cursor towards the text or whatever you want to select. like use one hand for holding and other for selecting the text. if this doesn't solves please comment here

Daniel,

It has been 3 days since your post, did you get this fixed?

I just saw your post and I am guessing you have a laptop and the internal mouse you speak of is the touch pad.  and as you drag or move the mouse it is highlighting text or data like when you hold down the left button.

you probably have simply double tapped the pad and it is in a highlight style mode.

hit ESC or close the app and reopen, or it you have to reboot.

If by change you left it alone on friday and are comming back to work on monday try this.  otherwise you have probably already fixed it.

I think your mouse left key is always auto press or damage your mouse.
try to another mouse ,if that time it do not create problem ,you ensure that its your mouse problem
that means your mouse is damage.
otherwise new mouse create problem you should going to expert .
