Microsoft Word - Cannot get MS Word to see the contact list from Outlook

Asked By Neil Scott on 18-May-12 08:52 PM
I am running Windows XP Pro and MS Office 2007. When I have MS Word open and try to obtain the contact listing from MS Outlook, I get an error message and the program will either restart or close. It is only when I have MS Outlook running in the background will MS Word see the Contact list. I did not have this problem when I was using MS Office 2000. With MS Office 2000, I only had to have word open and it would be able to capture the contact list without issues. Any suggestions as to the problem here. Thanks for any help. It is driving me crazy.

Philip,

The problem is not with outlook directly but rather thru MS Word. Let me try to explain further to see if you can come up with a solution. When I open up only MS Word only and try to acquire the address book from MS Outlook (which is not running in the background), it asks for the Profile Name and the name that it has in the box is "Outlook". When I click OK, the next screen that shows up is the list from the Contact List in Outlook. When I click on any of the contacts from the list, the next screen that appears is "Microsoft Office Word has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." If I was to have MS Outlook open and lerking in the background and followed the same steps, then the informaion would be passed to the printer and I would be able to print envelopes. I hope this helps to explain the exact problem. As you tried to help, you seem to think that the problem was with MS Outlook and not WORF

philip,

Let me try to explain in more detail as to what the exact problem is all about with Office 2007. It is not with MS Outlook but rather with Word. If I was to open up MS word by itself, and tried to acquire an address fromt he contact list stored in MS Outlook, all of the addresses show up on the screen; howerver when I click on any of the email contact list, the the computer has to shut down the program.  I hope this helps to clarify the problem Thanks

Lalit,

I already have sp3 downloaded and the problem still exists.
