Microsoft Word - Problem in activating Word 2010 in windows 7

Asked By Mahima Chandani on 18-Jun-12 07:41 AM
Hi,
I have a word .dot file which gets opened once user clicks on a button in IE explorer. but the window for Word is opening in the background and does not come up in the front.

this document shows a dialog box to the user and since the word window is not in front it becomes difficult for user to realise the document has opened.

I have tried all possible methods I could find on net which include .. Application.Activate
using Win API commands Bringtofront, ShowWindow, SetForeGroundWindow but nothing seems to work..
Please help me urgently with this issue..

Regards,
Mahima

Hi,

This look like an activation problem of word ,try below steps.

Click the Windows "Start" button and select "All Programs," followed by "Microsoft Office" and "Microsoft Office Word 2010."
1. Click the File in the top-left corner of the window.
2.Select the Help item and then click Activate Product Key.
3.Then Select "I want to activate the software over the Internet" and then click "Next."
4.Follow the  instructions presented by the Activation Wizard.

Finally Click the "File" tab in the top-left corner of the window and select "Exit." The activation process will be finalized the next time you start Word 2010.

Thanks,
D

Hi,

When you say IE Explorer I think of Internet Explorer and if you are clicking on a button that is linked to a word.dot or template file, my question is this an internal website where you have the file linked?  and are you able to ALT+TAB to the word file once it is opened or is that part of the problem as well.  I understand that opening a new document in word should bring that application to the front and as you open more applications the last one opened should be on top if this is what is happening then it sounds like a OS error or problem and not a word problem.
