I see many people have a similar problem. It seems to me that a template should be just that. An editable workbook that maintains row, column widths, heights, borders, grids (an occasional formula here and there) etc. but allows data to be freely entered. To have to protect, then un-protect cell by cell seems quite unproductive to say the least. I want the formulas, and the "look" ( page set-up) of my template to remain, but allow all DATA to change within it. There must be an easier way to go about this than the "solutions" I have read.
Also, it seems the min. number of pages to a workbook "sheet" is two. How do I copy page one's layout to the second page within the sheet? I tried copy and paste, but the second page does not maintain the column (rows) widths and heights. (The formula and cell formatting however DOES paste true.) I tried changing the "default" row and columns but since not all my columns and rows are the same this does not work. Why doesn't the row and column settings paste right along with the data? Is there any way to make it do so? I have even tried the trick in the upper box and select the "entire sheet", but the pages settings does not paste, only the data and formulas paste correctly. I'm using Excell 2007.
Also, while I have your attention, ( hopefully) Is it possible to make the pages within the workbook STOP moving while making a template or workbook? It seems that just when I manage to get one or two pages to be just like I want, some simple change, like a extra letter or something outside the margin moves the ENTIRE pages thoughout the entire book! It drives me crazy, ( and believe you me thats not a long drive!)
