Microsoft Excel - SLOW processing

I have a pivot chart for each month of the year.  I am trying to clear the old data on each monthly pivot chart and refresh it with new data from the new year.  When I try to run the vba it slows down when it says "reading data".  It gets to about June and the stops due to resources.  How can I clear a pivot chart without it reading data or being slow?
