Hello David,
Do you mean delete the contents or to delete the cells and contents and relocate surrounding cells?
For the first just select the cells that you want to clear and press the Delete button on your keyboard.
For the second, select the cells that you want to remove, then select Edit, Delete.  You will get a dialog box to indicate how you want the adjacent cells handled and then click OK.

Harry

Hi Harry

It is the first only, to delete the values within a number of cells, i do realise it can be done the way you say although i have several cells all over the sheet so to select them all is a bit of a pain, I'm hoping it can be done with formula or with a toggle to refresh the cells to blank cells so other users can make a new selection from the drop down box.

Hello David,
If your cells have some sort of characteristic you can use Edit, GoTo, Special to select them if they meet one of the criteria in the dialog box and then Delete.
Otherwise an example of your data layout and the selection criteria would be good
