Microsoft Excel - Remove values in certain cells by adding a value in another cell?
Asked By david on 17-Sep-13 05:35 AM
I have a few cells with data validation drop down lists where users select from the list to insert data into that cell.
Is there a way to: by adding data into another separate cell, it will delete the values that have been selected via the above drop down lists, e.g refresh all the cells back to blank empty cells. The separate cell, i wish to have also a drop down that can read 'refresh'
I am using Excel in office 2011 for Mac. Or i can set up on MS office 2010 for use with the 2011 mac version
I'd like to avoid VBA as most of the users will not have Macros enabled.
Any help is appreciated.

Hi David,
I doubt that this is possible without resorting to VBA because, after you have selected from the list, the cell contents are just the number or text from the list and there can be no connection with any other cell by formula or whatever.
Depending on what you want to do with it, the only thing I could suggest would be to have another cell that is conditionally equal to your 'selection' cell or blank depending on the contents of your 'refresh' cell.
Hope this helps.
