Microsoft Access - Change to a pipe delimitor not a tab
Asked By Sheri Havens on 16-Jan-14 02:01 PM
I need to export an Access query to a text file to be imported to another program. I can export with no problem, however, I don't want the dotted lines between records. I just want text with a pipe delimitor. Is there a way to do that within Access?

select columnA + '|' + columnB +'|' + columnC as MyRow
from tableA
I'm not familiar with Access tools but if they don't have an option, you can simply create the delimited string yourself.

Tried that. It still gave me the dotted lines to indicate cells and borders. Although there was only once cell, there were many lines. Here's a copy:
----------------------
| Expr1 |
----------------------
| 10297|240 |
----------------------
| 13907|320 |
----------------------
I don't want the extra dashes and extra bars.
