Microsoft Word - I have been sent a Word doc by email. Is there a way to find out when it was created?

I have been sent a Word doc by email, the person sending it is trying to pull a fast one, by changing the Terms and Condtions, which means I may have to pay a lot of money. The version just been sent is different to the one I had been sent originally.  I cant see how to find the properties in this Word version. It is still in the email, I have not saved it anywhere, for fear of overwriting the dates on it.  If I save it to my desktop, will it cancel out the date it was last saved?
How can I see when it was created/edited?

In Office 2010 (not sure about other versions), customize the ribbon and the command button Properties.  Close the dialog.

Click on the newly added command button Properties.  By default, you should see an author name and some other values come up in the docked window.  In the title bar of that window is a label for Document Properties with a down arrow.  Click the down arrow to view the advanced properties.

You'll find the dates you are looking for there.
