SQL Server - Get Data from Stored Procedure in different data segments based on Index value passed.

I need to do custom paging in my gridview and for that I want to get data from stored procedure each time when I change the index of page.
I want my stored procedure to return data based on index passed.
For example, if I pass Index value = 1, then it should return data from 1 to 500. If I pass Index value=2 then it should return data from 501 to 1000..
So each time when I hit the paging control, it should return segment of data based on index passed.
