A brief introduction - What is sharepoint 2007?

I have just started learning Sharepoint 2007 so I would be putting my thoughts here whenever I came to know something interesting.

You can define sharepoint as a set of products and technologies based on .NET, which allows to create dynamic and secure website based on provided site template.

The sharepoint page informations get stored in SQL database internally so you cannot open or edit using website editors like dreamwever. When you open sharepoint site, the Sharepoint designer will retrieve and rearrange the information from database and represents as a site page.
