The New High in Nerdom:
I recently started playing D&D; with some fellow gamers. Some would find this the most nerd thing you can do next to snorting while you laugh and then grabbing your pocket protector. I thought nothing of the sort. Maybe this is because I also play Warhammer 40K, Warhammer Fantasy, Mordhiem, Soon BattleFleet Gothic, Risk as well as other board games, Computer and Console games. The list goes on.....
About the same time I starting playing D&D;, I also started to recieve shit about it. They called it nerdy and made fun it left and right.
I look at it sort of in the same manner as Madden 2003 and Grand Theft Auto 3. They are role-playing games. One way or another you're pretending to be someone else and do something that you other wise would not do. I know D&D; is alittle more in depth, but thats my perspective.
Not shortly afterwards I realized there was worse. "Worse", you say as you scratch your head and ponder. I found a New High in Nerdom and it was under my nose the whole time.
It all started one day at work when Matt was teasing me. "Grab you sword of slaying and your cape of disappearing Eddie and Slay the mighty beast", Matt said sounding like a weasel and laughing out loud. I imediately replied, "Atleast I don't play -
MAGIC
-the gathering".
It was like a dark mighty shroud had covered Matt in ULTIMATE Nerdom. He Stopped and panned left and right, looking to see if anyone heard that blasphemy. He then sat down without another peep about Nerdom and D&D;, for I had bested him.
I slayed the mighty beast, I slayed Firkragg(with the help of the paladin and the errogant mage of course).
Just remember, if you're doing anything someone might consider nerdy and someone calls you on it. Just reply, "Atleast I don't play MAGIC".

Ralphie's Whisky French:
Take one tumbler, and insert three (no more!) ice cubes.
Pour into glass as much Maker's Mark as you want.
Then pour in as much Lillet Blanc as you desire.
Stir, and top with bitters.
The proportions are up to you, but Ralphie prefers a 3 to 1 Whisky to Appertif ratio.
