This explains about the ETL in SSIS in SQL Server
SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services) are used for building high performance data integration
solutions which includes Extraction, Transformation and Load packages for data warehousing.
Extract: Extract means filtering out the data and making it available. We can connect to
the database via linked Server and extract data or we can use UI for that.
Transfer: Extracted data can be in any format including but not limited to text files, CSV
or XML and Transfer involves transferring to Destination as per the business
rule.
Load: Loading the data into data warehouse
